The last word on Nathaniel Drinkwater - In Ebb Tide the author closes the Nathaniel Drinkwater series of books. Now an old man, Drinkwater is employed by Trinity House to visit and inspect lighthouses. During such an inspection he becomes involved in a disaster at sea during which he has time to review his life. The author, Richard Woodman, uses the book to fill in the missing years in Drinkwaters history. As a consequence, the book jumps from one episode to another and does not flow as cleanly as you would expect from Woodman. However, I would recommend it as a good read and a vital one if a Drinkwater fan.
